Privacy Policy — Learning Heaven
Learning Heaven is an Islamic companion app — prayer times, qibla, Qur'an, verified hadith and learning. We collect as little as possible.
What we collect
Account. The app works without registration. On first use we create an anonymous account identifier (a random ID via Supabase Auth) so your progress can sync. No name, email or phone number is required.
Learning data. Your XP, streaks, hearts, level progress, bookmarks, review queue, coupon redemptions, subscription entitlement and any content reports you submit, linked to the anonymous ID. Stored with Supabase (hosted on AWS in the EU) and cached on your device.
Purchases. Subscriptions are processed entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment details; we receive only a purchase token, the product purchased and its validity, to unlock Pro.
Analytics & crash reports. We use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand feature usage (e.g. "a level was completed") and to fix crashes. This involves device information (model, OS version, app version, coarse locale) and event data. See Google's privacy documentation for details.
Advertising. The free tier shows ads via Google AdMob. In the UK/EEA you are first asked for consent through Google's consent framework; you can decline personalised ads. AdMob may process device identifiers (such as the advertising ID) per Google's ad policies. Pro subscribers see no ads.
Location — used on your device only. If you tap "Use my location" for prayer times
or the qibla, the app asks Android for a coarse position (the
ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION permission). It is rounded to two decimal places, used on
the device to calculate prayer times and the qibla bearing, and saved in the app's own local
settings. It is never uploaded to us, never sent to Supabase, never included in an analytics
event and never passed to an ad request. You can skip it entirely and pick a city from a list
instead; the app never reads your location in the background.
Camera and photos — only when you scan an image. Sanad Check can read a hadith out of a picture. If you choose "Scan an image", the app opens your camera or photo picker so you can select one image. That image is re-encoded (which discards embedded EXIF data, including any GPS tag) and sent to our text-recognition service purely to extract the text, then deleted from the app's cache. We do not browse your photo library, and no image is sent anywhere unless you pick it for this purpose.
What we do NOT do
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads on screens displaying Qur'an or hadith text. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13; the app is intended for users 13+. We do not access your contacts or microphone, we do not read your files, and we do not read your location or your camera except in the two situations described above — both of which you start yourself, and neither of which sends your location to us.
Legal bases (UK GDPR)
Consent (personalised ads, analytics where required); performance of a contract (sync, Pro entitlements); legitimate interests (crash diagnostics, abuse prevention such as one-trial-per-account).
Retention & deletion
Learning data is kept while the anonymous account exists. To delete your data, contact us at admin@zaytunauk.co.uk or use the data deletion page (Settings → About shows the app version; we can locate the anonymous ID from the device on request) and we will erase the account and associated rows. Local data can be removed by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling.
